By using ipfw.net, you agree to the following terms and guidelines. This service is designed as a free, open utility for network diagnostics.
1. Privacy & Data Logging
- Minimal Application Logging: Our application code does not record or monitor the specific IPs you look up or the ports you test. However, your client IP address and standard HTTP request metadata are processed and logged by our infrastructure provider for routing, security, analytics, and abuse-prevention purposes in accordance with their privacy policy.
- Stateless Utility: All tests are performed in real-time. No historical data is kept.
- Edge Execution: Lookups are processed at the edge and immediately discarded.
2. Anti-Abuse & Rate Limiting
- Fair Use: This service is for individual diagnostic use. It is not intended for bulk port scanning or automated scraping.
- Rate Limits: To prevent abuse, strict rate limits are enforced globally. Automated abuse will result in temporary or permanent IP bans.
- Prohibited Uses: Using this service to participate in DDoS attacks, harassment, or unauthorized security auditing of third-party networks is strictly prohibited.
3. Disclaimer of Warranty
- "As Is" Basis: The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee 100% uptime or perfect accuracy of Geo/ASN data.
